Time to Shut off The News
Are we in a recession? YES. Is it as bad as the 1930's? NO. We have things in place to protect us, we are dumping billions of dollars into our banks and we are still producing products. When was the last time you went hungry? I know people do every day, but unfortunately that has been happening for years, even when out economy was booming. The middle class American could use to miss a few meals, ME INCLUDED.
After watching the below segment on the Today show, I actually felt a little uplifted about the economy.
I know it seems weird, but if you tune out Jim Cramer talking over Erin Burnett, you will actually hear someone in the media trying to say that things are not as bad as they make it sound. Unfortunately Cramer is so obnoxious that he is all you really hear until you go back and watch it a few times. I think that is what is happening. The guys like Cramer are trying to sell their services as "experts" and they are the loudest, but what we really need to listen to is those quiet people out there that are say "Hey it is tough right now, but things will, and are, getting better, let’s just be smart about things, but don't stop doing what you normally do."
We have done a lot of this to ourselves by overspending on things for years, getting comfortable in that, and then when things went bad, we pulled the plug on all of it which created this giant snowball.
I myself plan on going back to my normal spending patterns, living life in a normal way, and doing my best to help those in need during these tougher times. Hopefully you will do the same.
